POSITION SUMMARY

Vancouver Community College (VCC) is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Camp Counselors to support our Summer Camps running from August 18 to 29, 2025. This year’s camps include one week of Fashion Camps and one week of Trades Camps, designed for children aged 7 to 12.

Camp Counselors will be responsible for creating a safe, inclusive, and fun environment while guiding campers through engaging, hands-on activities. Experienced VCC instructors will lead a daily featured lesson, and counselors will support these sessions and facilitate additional activities using a pre-developed curriculum. Candidates should be confident working with children, skilled at leading small groups, and prepared to bring a few go-to games or activities to fill out the day.

Whether you’re a teacher, youth worker, or someone with experience in child-focused programming, we’d love to have you join our team in creating a memorable summer camp experience.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate games and structured activities using pre-developed curriculum materials.
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with campers aged 7–12.
  • Provide direct leadership and supervision to ensure camper safety and engagement throughout the day.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers; escalate significant concerns to the administrative team.
  • Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to support smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Supervise and mentor youth volunteers assigned to the camp program.
  • Support experienced VCC instructors during their daily featured lessons.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Available for the full camp duration : August 18 to 29, 2025.
  • Experience working with children in a camp, childcare, educational, or recreational setting.
  • Coursework or training in child development, education, recreation, or a related field is an asset.
  • Valid Emergency or Standard First Aid with CPR-C is an asset.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in any of our camp subject areas is an asset (sewing / textiles, small project building, electronics)
  • Experience working specifically with children aged 7–12.
  • Employment is contingent on a successful Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector screening.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
