Position Information

Title: Continuing Studies Instructor - Nursing

Unit: Assistant Division / Portfolio Continuing Studies and Corporate Training

Department / Program: C / S Certificate Programs

Location: Kelowna (Flexible Work Options)

Opportunity

Under the supervision of the Designated Supervisor, the instructor is responsible for delivering curriculum related to the teaching assignment, keeping curriculum current, and maintaining related documentation specific to the course.

Functions and Duties
  1. Provide teaching and educational services to program participants, including advice and instructional assistance related to course content.
  2. Ensure participants understand and adhere to the rules and policies outlined in the OC Calendar.
  3. Monitor and evaluate participant progress in the course.
  4. Prepare and maintain course materials, outlines, lesson plans, instructional aids, assignments, exams, and attendance records.
  5. Maintain and submit grades, exams, and grading sheets to the Program Administrator/Coordinator using the college's standardized grading system.
  6. Communicate any issues related to student participation or course delivery to the Program Administrator/Coordinator.
  7. Perform other related duties as required.
Education and Experience

An undergraduate degree and post-secondary teaching experience are preferred. Applicants with Grade 12 and equivalent teaching and work experience in their area of expertise may also be considered.

An Instructor’s Diploma or valid BC Teacher’s Certificate appropriate to the instructional assignment is preferred. 6–10 years of recent relevant experience is desirable.

Skills and Abilities

Candidates should demonstrate a team approach, strong written and oral English skills, and good interpersonal skills. An exceptional teaching record is preferred. Candidates should be comfortable with computerized environments and knowledgeable about relevant programs. Ability to facilitate communication between students and faculty is important.

Preferred Qualifications

Provincial Instructor Diploma or Learner-Centered Instructor Certificate, or equivalent experience and education. Experience in curriculum development is an asset.

Start Date: 11/01/2024

End Date (if temporary): 03/20/2025

Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays 6-9 pm (online), Saturdays 9 am–4 pm (in person at KLO campus)

Salary: $35–$50/hr
