Summer 2025 eLearning Teacher Position (Secondary)

Teacher Secondary eLearning Credit Programs

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of summer eLearning teacher.

Reporting to the principal(s) of Summer School/Adult and Continuing Education, the eLearning teachers will be responsible for the instructional delivery and daily student support for the duration of the program. Teachers are responsible for record-keeping and final reporting for their assigned course.

SCHEDULE FOR SUMMER ELEARNING SESSIONS:

  • Full-credit courses: July 2, 2025 - July 29, 2025
  • Half-credit course CHV2O: July 2, 2025 - July 15, 2025
  • Half-credit course GLC2O: July 16, 2025 - July 29, 2025

TEACHER LOCATION:

  • Remote - connected to Barrie Learning Centre

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Intermediate/Senior qualifications required in subject area
  • Special Education qualification preferred
  • Teaching and Learning Through eLearning AQ preferred

COURSES:

English: OLC30, OLC40, ENG2P, END2D, NBE3C, NBE3U, ENG4C, ENG4U

Science: SBI3C, SBI3U, SBI4U, SCH3U, SCH4C, SCH4C, SCH4U, SPH3U, SPH4C

Math: MFM2P, MPM2D, MBF3C, MCR3U, MAP4C, MDM4U, MHF4U

KEY COMPETENCIES:

Successful applicants for the summer eLearning teacher position will demonstrate evidence of:

  • Ability to integrate technology in daily practice
  • Deep understanding of learning pedagogy and how it relates to an online learning environment
  • Collaboration and teamwork with colleagues
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of the Ontario Curriculum, Growing Success, and Learning for All (A guide to effective assessment and instruction for all students K-12)

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES FOR TEACHERS:

Successful applicants for the summer eLearning teacher position will be responsible for:

  • Implementing effective student assessment practices (e.g. descriptive feedback) within the virtual learning environment
  • Delivering full-credit course content through the virtual learning environment
  • Enhancing curriculum-based content to integrate differentiated instructional strategies designed to improve student engagement and foster deeper learning
  • Knowledge of the board-appointed virtual learning environment (Brightspace by D2L)
