Job Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, Continuing Education, and where applicable, receives day-to-day supervision provided by local campus management. The Continuing Education (CE) Coordinator is responsible for assessing program and industry needs for their assigned portfolio; cultivating and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with partners; coordinating new continuing education course and program development; researching funding opportunities; writing proposals; and coordinating programming which supports local needs. This position requires quality decision-making, and guidance reflecting student, regional, community, client, and institutional needs. In addition, this position is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and reporting on new programming. The CE Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the offering and delivery of sufficient programming to justify the position and related delivery and administrative costs.

Specific Duties:

  1. Coordinate the development and implementation of a diverse range of relevant continuing education courses and programs that align with industry trends and market needs, including conducting needs assessments and collaborating with subject matter experts and instructors.
  2. Identify and pursue opportunities with businesses, professional organizations, and community groups to expand programming reach that supports regional labour market needs.
  3. Liaise with external partners and College personnel to identify and prioritize programming and funding opportunities that align with the college’s strategic direction.
  4. Research, write, and negotiate grant and funding proposals with funding agencies and college partners.
  5. Contribute to the development and implementation of the Continuing Education strategy and marketing plan.
  6. In collaboration with marketing staff, initiate marketing campaigns ensuring alignment with agreed funder specifications.
  7. Responsible for the financial viability of programming, including developing, monitoring, and maintaining budgets; negotiating budgets with partners; and preparing enrolment and financial projections.
  8. Perform recruitment, training, and development processes with faculty and community partners.
  9. Prepare contract information and other forms as required.
  10. Assist with delivery of staff, faculty, and student orientation as required.
  11. Communicate with community partners, instructors, staff, and students regarding program information and administrative issues.
  12. Create and facilitate relationships between the employment community, students, and the College to connect students to relevant work integrated learning opportunities.
  13. Gather and analyze course evaluations and partner feedback, preparing reports and recommendations for future offerings.
  14. Assess administrative components of programming and provide appropriate advice and direction to other staff.
  15. Prepare regular reports regarding financials, programming, and enrolment.
  16. Facilitate student selection processes as required.
  17. Participate in student recruitment and information events as required.
  18. Communicate with internal and external partners, providing advice regarding direction, opportunities, policy, and procedures affecting program delivery.
  19. Escalate issues to management or refer students and staff to college resources as appropriate.
  20. Promote a positive work atmosphere and communicate in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students and colleagues.
  21. Other related duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree (or higher) specializing in Business/Commerce or Adult Education.
  2. Certified Program Programmer designation preferred.
  3. 5 years or more experience in adult education and training coordination; business or project development, or similar field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  4. Experience working with industry, business, community organizations, First Nations communities in education/training.
  5. Knowledge of adult and community education philosophy and process.
  6. Working knowledge of training needs assessment processes and development.
  7. Experience writing grant funding proposals.
  8. Understanding of how to write learning outcomes.
  9. Demonstrated understanding of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Actions and DRIPA.
  10. Proven ability to effectively manage all resources for project completion.
  11. Proven research and investigation skills.
  12. Working knowledge of industry, business, funding agencies, and community resources.
  13. Demonstrated facilitation skills.
  14. Ability to motivate others to maintain quality services in a constantly changing environment.
  15. Proven ability to exercise organizational and routine supervisory skills.
  16. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  17. Ability to work independently and meet demanding work schedules and timelines.
  18. Proficient in appropriate office-related technology.
  19. Must be able to work flexible hours as required.
