The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board seeks committed educators for the Educational Assistant role in the 2025 Summer Cooperative Education Program. Assist students with exceptional needs, providing support inside and outside the classroom. This in-person position offers competitive pay and requires a Secondary School Diploma along with experience with special needs children.

We are seeking creative, dynamic, and committed educators to submit an Expression of Interest for the Continuing Education: Cooperative Education 2025 Summer School Program for the position of Educational Assistant.
The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board runs a Cooperative Education Summer School Program, giving students the opportunity to gain work experience through in-person placements, including students with developmental disabilities/autism this year.
All participants are protected under district policies, including Health & Safety.
The 2025 Summer School Cooperative Education program will be conducted in person.
All Educational Assistants (EAs) are expected to work at a designated Summer School site and travel with students to their co-op placements via OC Transpo.
Rate of Pay: $27.45/hour + 4% vacation pay or current school year pay
Locations: Continuing Education building at 440 Albert St and student placements
8:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with possible adjustments at the discretion of the Program Principal.

Under the direction of the Program Principal, the Educational Assistant provides 1-on-1 support to students with exceptional needs, including those with developmental disabilities/autism and speech/language issues. Responsibilities include supporting students inside and outside the classroom, modifying programs as needed, and traveling to work placements. ASL level 3+ is an asset.
All qualified Education Assistants can apply through this single posting. Requirements include a Secondary School Diploma, experience with children with special needs, teamwork skills, patience, and understanding of various needs. Certifications like BMS, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, First Aid, and CPR are assets. Experience in job coaching and travel training is also beneficial.
