Health Association Nova Scotia is partnering with the Department of Seniors and Long-term Care to provide recruitment support to continuing care employers in Nova Scotia. There are numerous opportunities across the Central Zone.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting clients with various personal care activities (e.g., bathing, dressing, grooming).
  • Perform light housekeeping duties.
  • Assist clients with meals and between meal refreshments.
  • Provide respite for families and care givers.
  • Documentation (e.g., reporting client concerns, progress notes, incident reports).
  • Engage residents/families in leisure/recreational programs.

Core Requirements

  • Provincial Continuing Care Assistant Certification
  • Persons with related education and/or work experience and are enrolled in or are eligible to be enrolled in CCA RPL Program
  • Students in nursing, CCA programs, and international educated nurses will be considered.

We hire both CCAs and CCAITs. Salary range is dependent on employer and CCA status.

Certified Continuing Care Assistant means a continuing care assistant who has been certified under the Continuing Care Assistant certification program and has been added to the Registry for Continuing Care Assistants. Continuing Care Assistant in Training means a person employed as a Continuing Care Assistant who is

  • Completing requirements to become a certified continuing care assistant
  • Hired on a conditional basis in accordance with the Educational Requirements for Entry to Practice of Non-Licensed Care Staff Policy.
