Job Posted: Continuing Care Assistant (CCA)

Wage: C$20.00/ hour to C$21.00/ hour

Work hours: 30 to 48 hours per Week

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Work Location:

  • Dartmouth, NS

Requirements:

  • A secondary school graduation certificate or equivalent is required.
  • 7 months to less than 1 year of related experience is required.

Responsibilities and essential job functions:

(Reporting to the Nursing Manager responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following):

  • The job demands are to provide care for clients, ensuring the comfort and safety of clients are met to the greatest possible extent: care must be within the scope of practice of a Continuing Care Assistant.
  • Care requirements: assisting or providing complete personal care, assisting/providing with the activities of daily living, supporting physical and emotional wellbeing, meal preparation, assistance with feeding, light housekeeping and laundering of clients’ personal clothes and linens.
  • Observe client conditions and reported unusual events or changes in condition.
  • Understand and implement infection prevention practices.
  • Maintain client records and documentation as required.
  • Effectively communicate and engage clients in a variety of activities within their environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and corporate information and discusses the same only with Company personnel.

Summary of Qualifications:

  • Previous related work experience in a similar position or life experience in which similar duties were completed.
  • First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate
  • CCA Certification an asset
  • Criminal Record Check, vulnerable sector check.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work under pressure with a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to focus attention on clients, remaining calm and courteous at all times
  • Ability to work daytime, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required
