Job description

Company Overview

ABK has been serving BC’s southern interior since 1991. Our core function is providing emergency response and rebuild/restoration services to residential, commercial, and industrial clients affected by water, fire, wind, weather, trauma, vehicle impacts, and other perils. We also manage and remove hazardous materials such as asbestos, mold, lead, fuel, and other substances.

In November 2020, ABK joined forces with Canstar Restorations, a leading Western Canadian full-service restoration provider established in 1985, with 5 branches across British Columbia and 2 in Alberta.

We offer a comprehensive benefits program including extended health and dental, vacation, and paid sick/personal days. We prioritize our customers and team, fostering a fun, fast-paced, and challenging work environment.

Position Overview

As a Contents Field Processing Technician, you will restore belongings damaged by fire or flood, working directly on-site in homes or commercial buildings. Your role involves handling customers’ possessions with care—cleaning, deodorizing, disinfecting, protecting, re-packaging, and storing them until they are returned to the restored premises.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify items that can be restored versus those that are a loss
  • Pack items for transport to the processing warehouse
  • Return and place items back after restoration
  • Work on-site to clean, disinfect, and restore contents
  • Collaborate with a team in a safe and clean environment
  • Protect and carefully pack contents to prevent damage
  • Follow procedures for cleaning and handling possessions
  • Thoroughly clean smoke residue from contents and structures
  • Perform post-construction cleaning to prepare homes for occupancy

Health and Safety
  • Adhere to Canstar’s health and safety policies and procedures
  • Maintain good housekeeping for safety and efficiency
  • Understand and follow safety protocols
  • Ensure proper PPE usage on site

  • Positive attitude and willingness to serve customers
  • Clean criminal record

Working Conditions
  • Travel within branches and client locations required
  • Flexibility to work overtime, evenings, and weekends occasionally
  • On-call shifts as needed

Perks of Working for ABK
