As a Content Lawyer specializing in Commercial Law, you will transform your legal expertise into practical, high-quality resources that support legal professionals across Canada. You will develop and maintain trusted legal content, including practice guides, checklists, precedents, and workflow tools. Working alongside experienced legal and product teams, you will help shape innovative digital solutions that make legal work more efficient and accessible. You will monitor legislative and market developments to ensure content remains accurate, relevant, and competitive. This role offers an opportunity to pursue an alternative legal career at the intersection of legal practice, content development, and technology. You will also contribute to product strategy, collaborate with legal practitioners nationwide, and help advance the responsible use of AI in the legal sector.

Accountabilities
  • Develop and maintain legal content: Write, review, and edit practical legal resources, including practice notes, checklists, flowcharts, precedents, and other materials that support commercial law practitioners.
  • Ensure accuracy and relevance: Monitor legal developments, regulatory changes, emerging trends, and evolving professional needs to keep all content current, reliable, and useful.
  • Contribute to content strategy: Identify opportunities to strengthen the product offering, assess its competitive positioning, and recommend improvements to content direction and overall strategy.
  • Build professional relationships: Recruit and maintain relationships with commercial lawyers, law firms, and legal practitioners across Canada to support content development and ensure alignment with real‑world legal practice.
  • Collaborate on product development: Work cross‑functionally with content, product, and other internal teams to deliver high‑quality legal resources and execute development initiatives within established timelines.
  • Support commercial initiatives: Contribute to sales and marketing activities through product demonstrations, training sessions, presentations, and other initiatives that showcase the value of the legal content offering.
  • Leverage legal technology: Explore and apply relevant digital tools, including AI‑powered solutions, to improve content creation, review, and delivery while maintaining high standards of legal accuracy and quality.
Requirements:
  • Education and professional qualifications: Hold a J.D. or LL.B. and be an active member in good standing of the bar of at least one Canadian province or territory.
  • Relevant legal experience: Bring at least three years of professional experience in commercial law, with a strong understanding of legal principles, practical workflows, and the challenges faced by commercial law practitioners. In‑house counsel experience is an asset.
  • Legal expertise and professional network: Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of commercial law and established professional relationships with commercial lawyers and legal practitioners.
  • Legal writing and editorial skills: Have excellent practical writing, drafting, reviewing, and editing abilities, with the capacity to communicate complex legal concepts clearly, concisely, and accurately. Experience producing or editing client materials, legal journals, continuing legal education presentations, or other legal publications is highly valued.
  • Communication and presentation: Possess strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with legal professionals and cross‑functional teams.
  • Technology proficiency: Be comfortable using Microsoft Office applications and demonstrate experience with AI and large language model (LLM) tools in a professional setting, including reviewing, validating, and refining AI‑generated outputs.
  • Organization and autonomy: Be highly organized, proactive, self‑motivated, and detail‑oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Language skills: Fluency in French is an asset.
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation: Annual base salary ranges vary by location, with a listed range of CAD 96,100–146,100 for the Toronto primary location and CAD 90,300–140,300 for Ontario. Compensation is location‑dependent.
  • Annual incentive bonus: Eligibility for an additional annual performance‑related incentive bonus.
  • Flexible working arrangements: Flexible working hours that allow you to organize your schedule around your responsibilities and periods of peak productivity.
  • Work‑life balance: A supportive working environment with initiatives designed to promote employee well‑being and a sustainable work‑life balance.
