Job Purpose

The Content Design Specialist within the Product team at World Vision Canada plays a critical role on the Impact Journey team, bringing content expertise to translate product vision and priorities into meaningful, audience-centred experiences. This role is responsible for executing the content strategy while actively contributing to its development and evolution. Working as an integral member of an Agile team, the Content Design Specialist engages across the full content lifecycle from strategy and planning through to creation, delivery, optimization, and measurement. Combining analytical thinking with creative problem-solving, the role ensures content is valuable, purposeful, accessible, and effectively connects with and engages its intended audiences.

Responsibilities
  • Content Design & Strategy: Apply content design principles to plan, develop, and deliver clear, accessible, engaging, and audience-centered digital content. Translate complex information into intuitive content experiences that support audience needs and organizational goals.
  • Content Development & Creation: Identify content opportunities and create content across digital channels and experiences. Collaborate with cross-functional partners to translate ideas and requirements into effective content solutions aligned with the prioritized product backlog.
  • Audience & User Needs: Use audience insights, user needs, behaviors, feedback, and research to inform content decisions. Design content experiences that are relevant, inclusive, accessible, and easy for audiences to understand and act upon.
  • Content Systems & Integration: Work within the organization’s content ecosystem and systems to develop, organize, and optimize content. Identify opportunities to reuse, adapt, and connect content across channels, platforms, and audiences while maintaining consistency and coherence.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Product Owners, designers, developers, marketers, subject-matter experts, and other stakeholders throughout the content lifecycle. Contribute content expertise to ideation, planning, prioritization, and delivery.
  • Content Planning & Delivery: Support content planning and execution in alignment with product roadmaps and prioritized backlogs. Coordinate content activities, manage dependencies, identify risks, and ensure deliverables are completed to agreed timelines and quality standards.
  • Content Quality & Governance: Apply content standards, guidelines, accessibility principles, and organizational values to ensure content is accurate, consistent, inclusive, and fit for purpose. Conduct content reviews and testing to identify and resolve issues before launch.
  • Content Performance & Optimization: Define and monitor relevant content metrics and KPIs to evaluate performance and audience engagement. Analyze data, feedback, and trends to identify opportunities to improve content effectiveness and the overall digital experience.
  • Release & Launch Support: Support the planning, coordination, and execution of content releases, ensuring content is ready for publication and aligned with business objectives, audience needs, dependencies, and launch timelines.
  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Stay informed about emerging content design, digital experience, accessibility, and humanitarian-sector trends. Identify opportunities to improve content processes, tools, and ways of working to increase efficiency, quality, and impact.
  • Mission-Aligned Content: Apply a human-centered and mission-driven approach to content design, helping create digital experiences that build understanding, inspire engagement, and support the organization’s work with vulnerable communities.
Qualifications
  • Degree/Diploma in Marketing, Media or similar discipline
  • 3 years+ of relevant experience in Content creation/Media
  • Expert copywriter, strong video creation and editing skills, and intermediate graphic design skills
  • Experience with enterprise-level Content management systems (CMS)
  • Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems, and Intranets
  • Hands-on experience with analytics platforms such as Google Analytics and Adobe Analytics
  • Ability to optimize content for SEO
  • Understanding of the content lifecycle
  • Experience in creating content across multiple mediums and platforms (including rich media)
  • Experience with cloud-based design and editing tools
  • Experience with generative tools and applications
  • Experience working directly with internal/external clients in a face-to-face environment
  • Experience working with and managing agencies and external vendors
  • Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills
  • An Agile mindset with the ability to manage priorities
  • Working knowledge of development process and project management an asset
  • Understanding and experience working with/in Lean Agile Scrum methodology an asset
