Job description

Position Overview

Calian takes pride in delivering top-notch psychological assessment services to our esteemed public and private sector clients across Canada. We are actively seeking Psychologists in the Fredericton area to join our dynamic team. As a vital member of Calian, you'll play a crucial role in supporting our clients, particularly those operating in high-risk scenarios, by conducting assessments to ensure their applicants are well-suited for the job.

Join a network of consultant psychologists nationwide, contributing to the assurance that organizations are staffed with thoroughly assessed personnel, ready and equipped to perform their duties effectively. Become part of a team dedicated to excellence in psychological assessment services, making a real impact on the success of our clients and the individuals they employ.

Join our team as a consultant psychologist specializing in candidate selection assessments for policing agencies. We're looking for professionals with flexible schedules, and in this role, we manage the referral process and coordinate assessments based on your availability.

Enjoy the opportunity to immerse yourself in conducting structured stress interviews, with dedicated time for thorough report writing. Make a significant impact in the field of law enforcement while benefiting from a streamlined process that allows you to focus on your core expertise.

This fulfilling consultant psychologist role is ideal if you crave variety and harbor a keen interest in law enforcement. This position offers a dynamic and diverse work environment, catering to psychologists who thrive on multifaceted challenges. If you're seeking a role that aligns with your preferences for varied tasks and avoids the need for therapeutic alliances, this opportunity provides an ideal platform for your career growth and satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • You will be responsible for interviewing candidates who have previously completed written personality assessments, which are administered by Calian. After your one-on-one interview, you will complete a template with your findings. You will also have the support of our experienced Senior Consulting Psychologist.
  • In this role, you will be asked to perform the second part of a two-part assessment. The first part will include formal testing, using MMPI-3 and 16PF, followed by the second part, a structured clinical interview.
  • You will be responsible for reviewing and interpreting the results of the testing and then conducting the follow-up clinical interview and ultimately determining whether the candidate meets or does not meet the requirements.
  • You may also be required to provide feedback on individual assessment results to the candidates and defend psychological evaluations when required.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or Psy.D in Psychology is preferred; a Master’s degree may be accepted.
  • Being fully bilingual (French and English) is preferred.
  • Must be licensed for autonomous practice as a Psychologist in New Brunswick.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 25 psychological assessments in the last 5 years for adults in high-risk occupations such as police, military, first responders, armed border agents, or correctional services officers.
  • 2 years of experience performing psychodiagnostics assessments with adults in a clinical setting using DSM criteria.
  • 3 years of experience using MMPI-2, MMPI-2-RF, or MMPI-3 in psychodiagnostic or psychological suitability assessments.
Additional Requirements
  • Casual contract and flexible working schedule.
  • Assessments can be done on weekdays, weekends, and/or evenings.
  • Must be able to conduct interviews with candidates in-person in a private office or virtually. If the candidate does not have access to a private office, Calian will be able to provide one for the candidate on an as-and-when-needed basis.
