This diverse team of professionals works with clients on a wide range of business disputes and irregularities and applies qualitative techniques to accurately measure the value of their operations. Our Complex Financial Instrument group works on a variety of challenging assignments to assist our clients in valuing financial derivatives and other complex instruments such as embedded derivatives in the debenture agreement, employee stock options, performance share units, royalty agreements, and commodity financing agreements. We apply sophisticated mathematical models and innovative processes to evaluate complex financial instruments, drawing upon the latest developments in mathematics, computer science and finance theory.

Responsibilities
  • Build and review financial models for valuing complex financial instruments and financial derivative
  • Prepare formal valuation reports and/or memorandums documenting the valuation approaches and conclusions. These valuations are used for a wide range of applications including financial reporting, financial risk management, and corporate planning
  • Perform valuation engagements relating to the fair value of a variety of complex financial instruments using option pricing, equity, FX and interest rate models
  • Manage multiple engagements simultaneously and complete deliverables according to the agreed upon timeline
  • Build projections, forecasts and/or models in Excel/Python/FinCAD
  • Conduct market research into valuation methods and best practices, market trends and technical topics
  • Learn and become knowledgeable of applicable accounting standards pertaining to various valuation issues
  • Work collaboratively with the client engagement team
Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor/Master’s Degree with a specialization in financial engineering, statistics, mathematics, data science, or finance
  • 1-2 years of working experience in relevant positions
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of statistical software and platform, FinCAD, Python, Bloomberg, Capital IQ, and Crystal Ball, is an asset
  • Some travel may be required
