McConnell Foundation is seeking a Consultant Chef Trainer to lead Cook Up Your Future workshops in schools and DYP settings. The role focuses on delivering hands-on culinary sessions that build basic cooking skills and healthy eating habits for youth facing challenges.

This mandate runs for 20 weeks with workshops generally 2–2.5 hours weekly, averaging 4–5 hours of work. Training content is provided; a criminal background check is required due to work with minors.

Qualifications

  • Be passionate about food and cooking.
  • Be skilled in animation and teaching.
  • Comfortable with teenagers and young adults (12–25 years old).
  • Be empathetic, flexible, and able to adapt to the diverse realities of vulnerable youth.
  • Be autonomous, organized and responsible.
  • Have completed a DEP in cooking, a training in nutrition or equivalent, an asset.
  • Experience in facilitation or education, an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver one culinary workshop of 2 - 2.5 hours per week as part of the mandate.
  • Teach participants basic cooking techniques and guide them through recipe preparation.
  • Deliver each workshop using the educational materials provided by La Tablée des Chefs and ensure preparation with the workshop content beforehand.
  • Purchase the ingredients required for workshop recipes (budget allocated).
  • Provide the administrative documentation required for the mandate (e.g., invoices, evaluation questionnaires).

Job description

Cook Up Your Future is a culinary education program offered in schools and DYP settings. Its purpose is to teach youth experiencing challenges basic cooking techniques and healthy eating habits to support their transition to adulthood, using educational materials provided by La Tablée des Chefs.

As a Consultant Chef Trainer, you’ll have the chance to inspire and make a lasting impact by sharing your culinary passion whether through collaborating with youth from diverse backgrounds. If you're an experienced chef or a passionate home cook, this collaboration opportunity is for you!

Services to Be Provided

Important information to know:
  • The programs are turnkey; no recipe or educational content development is required.
  • Professional fees are $125 per workshop.
  • Tools and materials are made available to support and guide you throughout the mandate, to be consulted as needed.
  • Access to transportation is strongly recommended (for grocery shopping and carrying supplies)
  • The mandate is estimated to require approximately 4–5 hours per week
  • The Consultant Chef Trainer is expected to remain available for the duration of the agreed-upon mandate and deliver all scheduled services (workshops).
  • For Cook Up Your Future, mandat duration is 20 weeks
  • For Cook Up Your Future School, workshops are generally delivered during class.
  • For Cook Up Your Future DYP, workshops are generally delivered in the evening (during the week).
  • The schedule is established jointly with the participating establishment and the consultant's availabilities.
  • A criminal background check is required due to the consultant’s regular contact with minors during the delivery of the mandate.
