What you'll be doing

As the Consultant, Business Controls, you will be responsible for performing compliance monitoring reviews such as email surveillance, gift and entertainment policy, and Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) registration within times lines and standards governed by Business Controls methodologies; as well as delivering continuous, insightful and actionable analytics of review activities to support the compliance monitoring activities.

How you'll succeed

  • Compliance – Tier one investment compliance monitoring, controls review, including a supervisory review of Institutional Marketing Materials prior to dissemination, in accordance with regulatory requirements, Business Controls’ compliance monitoring methodology, risk rating and the annual monitoring plan. Facilitate t he monitoring to ensure adherence with legal and regulatory requirements, corporate policies and guidelines mutually agreed by the business and portfolio managers.

  • Investigations – Assess whether adequate key controls are in place and operating effectively. Expected to complete and document on a timely basis the results of reviews and tests that will be used to assist the Business Controls team on an ongoing basis; assess significant changes at an early stage.

  • Oversight – Ongoing monitoring of CIBC’s policy and regulators requirements related to Social Media and Email Surveillance to ensure that our brand, reputation, clients, and information are protected and that standards of professionalism, honesty, and integrity are maintained.

  • Standards Diligence – Ongoing monitoring with CIBC’s applicable Regulatory Requirements related to the prevention of Bribery and Corruption; the Gift and Entertainment monitoring tool supports one of the components set out CIBC’s Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption (ABAC) Policy.

  • Collaboration & Teamwork – Assist team members with their reviews and help to implement changes as required to strengthen the processes.Ensure that the working files are documented clearly for other internal and external compliance teams to understand and rely upon consultation. Coordinate and engage with various stakeholders and teams to ensure registration process is being followed accordingly.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience. 2+ years’ experience in compliance, audit, and/or operational risk roles in financial/banking sector. It’s an asset if you have exposure to different financial markets, asset classes, National Instrument 81-102, and National Instrument 31-103.
