Our consultants are skilled technical and consultative resources expected to be strong in both technical and soft skills. A Consultant must be a proven self-starter with the ability to problem-solve, communicate effectively, participate in diverse project teams from a technical perspective, and interface with customers, vendor partners, and colleagues. Establish & maintain productive and respectful relationships with the delivery team, practice management, and client management team.
Perform Security Assessments including red team assessments, purple team assessments, vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, wireless security assessments, physical security assessments, and social engineering, working independently, as part of a team, and as a team lead.
Contribute to developing and improving the Security Assessment practice through industry contributions and team initiatives (e.g., tool development, conference presentations, blog posts).
Improve operational efficiency on projects and internal initiatives.
Deliver timely engagements and collaborate with Practice Managers on training, education, career development, and performance.
Ensure work meets Optiv's quality standards by reviewing peer work.
Manually validate vulnerabilities identified during assessments.
Participate in capacity planning and hardware specification recommendations.
Provide knowledge transfer and post-production support as needed.
Maintain effective communication within the team.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, networking, and professional associations like ISSA.
Obtain and maintain top-tier vendor certifications.
Complete administrative tasks such as time and expense entry, status reporting, and project completion reporting.
Familiarity with command and control (C2) frameworks, such as Nighthawk, Cobalt Strike, Mythic, Covenant, etc.
Ability to combine multiple findings to execute complex attacks.
Knowledge of various network architectures, services, system types, devices, and development platforms (e.g., Linux, Windows, Cisco, Oracle, Active Directory, JBoss, .NET).
Ability to work well with customers, manage difficult situations, and focus on client satisfaction.
Ability to communicate complex security concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, including executives.
Leadership and mentoring skills, willingness to collaborate and share knowledge.
Proven ability to review and revise peer reports.
Effective time management, ability to handle multiple projects, and work independently on large projects.
Bachelor's degree preferred with 2-5 years of related experience.
At least 3 years of experience in Vulnerability Assessments, Penetration Tests, Wireless Security, or Social Engineering with enterprise organizations.
3 years in a consulting or related security role.
Willingness to travel up to 25% to client sites.
