ERM is seeking a highly motivated Consultant, Archaeologist to join our global consulting firm as part of our archaeology and cultural heritage team in Vancouver or Smithers, BC. The successful candidate will work with our team for archaeological desk-based and field-based studies, provide office-based coordination of field investigations, and conduct data processing and reporting tasks for archaeological assessments. This is a fulltime, permanent position and an excellent opportunity for an archaeologist to join a growing and exciting technical team, as you build a rewarding career path with a global environmental leader.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and lead archaeological field programs.
  • Perform archaeological field surveys and excavation for archaeological studies.
  • Conduct research and writing for archaeological and cultural heritage assessments.
  • Artifact analysis and cataloguing.
  • Provide quality review of archaeology/cultural heritage deliverables.
  • Provide technical consulting skills to support the growth of ERM’s business and client base in the area of archaeology and cultural heritage, specifically in Western Canada.
  • Represent ERM through communications and at meetings with provincial/territorial and federal agencies.
  • Interact with other ERM service areas to share multi-disciplinary resources and best practices across the country and internationally.
  • Assist with preparing proposals and reports to meet client needs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Archaeology or Anthropology or related field (with a focus in archaeology). Or equivalent experience.
  • Close to Field Director status in British Columbia.
  • Previous consulting experience in other provinces and territories a plus.
  • Demonstrated fieldwork experience and understanding of field logistics.
  • Proven ability to carry research to completion.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong health and safety culture.
  • Ability to work within a team as well as independently.
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on varied terrain.
  • Team-player, but also able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid First Aid
  • Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.

For the Consultant, Archaeologist (Mid - Level) position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $70, 469 – $80,740 (CAD). An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above.This jobmay be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are NOT bonus eligible).
