Kiewit is seeking an experienced Surveyor to manage field survey operations in Toronto. The role involves implementing survey plans, verifying data accuracy, and supervising junior staff. Ideal candidates possess a bachelor's degree in Geomatics or related fields and have over 6 years of experience.

Eastern Canada District's projects include highways, bridges, mass transit, mine site development & open pit operations, hydroelectric powerhouses, wind-power plants, dams & industrial. They serve the construction and mining industries and operate in Eastern Canada.
This position will be based on a project in Toronto, Ontario.
Field Survey Operations:
• Implement Safety in every aspect of their working duties
• Implementing the project survey plan specific to field operations.
• Oversee the operation with periodic reviews of record-keeping, field procedures, and survey audits to ensure that all work is performed efficiently and professionally.
• Maintain accurate and legible field notes; sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys in order to describe, clarify, and assume liability for work performed.
• Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at project sites.
• Prepare site surveying documents/ reports and present findings
• Ensure maintenance equipment and well-calibrated
• Setting and maintenance of control network.
• Performing layout and drawing clarifications
• Supervising, teaching, and leading more junior members of the team
• Committed to working safely and getting the job done right the first time
• Must be willing to work 40-45 hours per week, occasionally it may be required to work some irregular hours
• 6+ years' experience in Construction Survey, Field Engineering, traversing, leveling, layouts, or a related experience is required
• Ability to coordinate with different trades, field, and other construction team members
• Understanding common Canadian coordinate systems
• Surveying experience in transit is an asset
• GPS, leveling, and robotic total station experience is required with Trimble/ Leica equipment is an asset
• Must be able to apply intermediate concepts of Trigonometry, Mathematics, Calculus, and Geomatics to perform calculations (area, volume, circumference, proportion, percentage)
• Strong computer knowledge to use AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other computer-assisted design software
• Self-starter with the ability to set standards of excellence in safety, quality, and productivity
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong work ethic with the ability to work individually and as a team
• Dynamic thinker with the desire to lead, motivate and mentor teams
• Working at heights trained is an asset
• Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics or Diploma in Civil Engineering Tech or equivalent is an asset
• Ability to travel and relocate as needed

• Must be able to interact professionally with all levels of management
• Occasionally lift and move objects up to 30 pounds and walk on uneven surfaces
• Would be able to safely work at heights and underground passages
• Must be able to work regularly scheduled hours and occasional irregular hours

• Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
• Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
