Job Description

The Site Superintendent ensures that projects are completed safely, within budget, on schedule, and in accordance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  1. Project Coordination : Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to understand project goals, plans, and specifications. Create and maintain a detailed construction schedule, ensuring all activities are properly sequenced and executed.
  2. Supervision of Workforce : Manage and lead on-site construction teams, including subcontractors and laborers. Delegate tasks, provide guidance, and monitor work progress to ensure adherence to project timelines and quality standards. Address any issues or conflicts among team members.
  3. Quality Control : Monitor construction processes to ensure compliance with design, specifications, and industry standards. Conduct regular inspections to identify and rectify deviations or deficiencies in workmanship.
  4. Safety Compliance : Implement and enforce strict safety protocols and practices. Conduct safety meetings and training sessions to raise awareness and prevent accidents.
  5. Budget & Resource Management : Manage project budget by tracking expenses, reviewing invoices, and controlling costs. Coordinate with procurement teams for timely delivery of materials and equipment.
  6. Communication : Act as a liaison between stakeholders, providing updates on project progress, challenges, and resolutions. Document daily activities, issues, and decisions.
  7. Problem Solving : Proactively identify potential obstacles, develop solutions to prevent delays, and address unforeseen issues promptly to keep the project on track.
  8. Regulatory Compliance : Ensure all activities adhere to local building codes, regulations, and permits.
  9. Progress Reporting : Prepare regular reports for project managers and stakeholders, detailing progress, challenges, and milestones.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project plans.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making under pressure.
  • Leadership qualities with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

Qualification Requirements:

  • High school diploma or relevant technical/construction education is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in ICI construction or related field, preferably in a supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, techniques, and terminology.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Gold Seal Certification and LEED Accreditation are assets.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Suretrak, Primavera P3/P6, Procore, and BIM software is an asset.
