Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Construction Specialist – Electrical to join our team! In this role you will get to ensure the successful delivery of electrical systems by performing detailed inspections, monitoring quality, and verifying compliance with project and safety standards. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical background, sharp attention to detail, and hands-on field experience to support the integrity and success of construction activities.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Conduct thorough inspections of electrical systems and installations (e.g., cable trays, wiring, panels, grounding, lighting, power distribution) to verify compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Identify and document any non-conformances or deviations, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Review contractor submittals, inspection requests, and method statements for electrical works.
- Ensure adherence to national and international electrical codes (e.g., NEC, IEC).
- Monitor ongoing electrical activities on-site to ensure proper sequencing and integration with other disciplines.
- Verify that materials and equipment used meet project quality and technical standards.
- Assist in resolving on-site technical issues in coordination with the design and construction teams.
- Witness testing and commissioning activities and validate functional performance of electrical systems.
- Maintain detailed inspection records, daily logs, and photo documentation of work progress and issues.
- Prepare and submit regular inspection and progress reports to the site manager and project stakeholders.
- Ensure proper documentation of all electrical installations for handover and project close-out.
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical safety standards and procedures.
- Participate in safety inspections and audits, supporting a strong health and safety culture.
- Verify the safe installation and operation of electrical systems before energization.
- Collaborate with the construction team, consultants, and client representatives to ensure alignment on technical requirements and inspection criteria.
- Participate in coordination meetings to review inspection findings and progress updates.
- Provide technical support and guidance to contractors and junior site inspectors.
- Witness pre-commissioning and commissioning tests for electrical systems, including insulation resistance, continuity, functional testing, and power-on verification.
- Validate that testing protocols are properly followed and that documentation is complete and accurate.
- Assist in the development and review of commissioning procedures and test scripts.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical inspection roles on large-scale construction projects.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical construction methods, materials, and testing procedures.
- Strong knowledge of international and local electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA, IEC).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, and schedules.
- Familiarity with inspection processes, checklists, and reporting practices.
- Good command of MS Office and experience with inspection/reporting tools (e.g., Aconex, Procore, or similar).
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and coordination skills in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Electrical Inspector, OSHA Safety Certification, or equivalent).
- Experience working with EPC contractors or in oil & gas, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with QA/QC procedures, material submittals, and vendor inspection processes.
- Ability to multitask and adapt to a fast-paced construction environment.
- Working knowledge of construction management systems and project scheduling tools.
