THE CONSTRUCTION SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER OPPORTUNITY

Canadian Turner Construction's Vancouver team is seeking a full-time Construction Senior Project Manager. The role requires availability to work on-site or in the head office from Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, and reports to the Operations Manager or Project Executive. You will oversee multiple large-scale construction projects and teams; manage technical, administrative, and training support for project development, with emphasis on project engineering in collaboration with the Operations team.

As a Construction Senior Project Manager, you will:
  • Manage multiple projects and serve as a resource to Operations teams, offering engineering insights, knowledge, support, and direction.
  • Perform constructability reviews during Preconstruction and work with the Preconstruction team to prepare estimates for multiple projects.
  • Participate in project tenders, bid leveling, scope reviews, and award meetings.
  • Oversee execution of multiple client contracts.
  • Attend Operational Review Meetings (ORM) and Owner Architect Contractor (OAC) meetings for assigned projects.
  • Engage and communicate with Architects and Engineers on industry topics and project impacts.
  • Review assigned projects' Project Execution Plans and Quality Control (QC) Plans.
  • Participate in each project's start-up and maintain an overview of procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Attend and participate in project staff resourcing meetings.
  • Ensure projects adhere to safety, ethics, and compliance standards.
  • Conduct weekly reviews of Project Schedules.
  • Review project forecasting and attend Turner Forecasting System (TFS) meetings.
  • Conduct jobsite visits and attend meetings to assist with risk management.
  • Manage QC inspections to ensure compliance with contract documents and shop drawings.
  • Develop, train, and evaluate project staff across projects.
  • Stay current on Turner's value-added services and manage the rollout of new technologies.
  • Share best practices and formats for procedures like scheduling, budgeting, and QC from site visits.
  • Lead operational meetings discussing excellence, challenges, lessons learned, and lean initiatives.
  • Improve procedures manuals and expand content where needed.
  • Maintain project Launch and Closeout Boards, review closeout procedures, and report on project status.
  • Create detailed project checklists emphasizing risk management.
  • Manage off-site document storage and retrieval.
  • Attend industry conferences to gather information on new technologies.
  • Conduct performance and development discussions with direct reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
