Jump Recruitment is seeking a Construction Safety Officer for a local heavy civil contractor in St. John's, NL.

The role focuses on implementing site safety plans, conducting risk assessments, and guiding on-site safety practices across projects. You will lead safety orientations, organize toolbox talks, investigate incidents, and maintain documentation while ensuring compliance with WHMIS and safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or related field is preferred.
• Committee training and/or experience is an asset.
• Knowledge of WHMIS, fall protection, trenching, and confined space safety is expected.
• Experience with site safety plans, hazard assessments, risk management and safety documentation is required.

Responsibilities

• Address all safety concerns raised by site personnel.
• Conduct accident investigations and ensure proper reporting and corrective actions.
• Maintain and monitor safety plans, hazard assessments, safety checklists, and risk assessments for each project.
• Deliver site safety orientation for all employees and organize toolbox meetings.
• Perform on-site inspections with foreman or superintendent and ensure corrective actions are completed.
• Compile and maintain project safety documentation (daily/weekly/monthly reports).

Jump Recruitment, on behalf of our confidential client, is seeking a Construction Safety Officer to join their team in St. John's, NL.

Job Summary:

A local heavy civil construction and infrastructure contractor company has been providing service in the heavy civil industry of Newfoundland for over 30 years ago. They specialize in large-scale construction and roadwork projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Address all safety concerns brought forward by all site personnel.
• Accident investigations for all accidents, incidents, near misses or injuries.
• Ensuring all incidents are properly recorded, and the correct actions are recommended and completed.
• Prepare, review, and monitor site-specific safety plans, hazard assessments, safety checklists, risk assessments, etc.
• Perform on-site safety orientation for all employees.
• Organize and conduct toolbox meetings.
• Conduct site inspections in conjunction with the foreman and/or superintendent.
• Compile all documentation regarding safety throughout the duration of the project (maintain daily/weekly/monthly reports).

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety Program, supplemented by related construction work experience would be considered an asset.
