Job summary

Harbinger Network Inc. in Mississauga is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Lead Officer to oversee the company’s safety program and ensure compliance with Ontario standards.

You will prepare H&S documentation for sites, support project managers on-site, manage subcontractor safety records, and drive continuous safety improvements across projects. Strong communication, auditing, and policy-writing skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years’ experience in construction or related industries doing H&S.
• Knowledge of Ontario Health and Safety standards and legislation.
• Experience managing JHSC.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
• Computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage the company’s health and safety program including making recommendations for improvement, documenting policies, and ensuring current policies and documentation requirements are met.
• Prepare and submit all H&S documentation for job sites.
• Support project managers with H&S requirements onsite including sending employee H&S packages.
• Subcontractor management: ensure proper documents, insurance, and more is prepared.
• Review safety statistics and report to management.
• Ensure all issues and corrective actions are being implemented and closed out.
• Conduct workplace inspections to ensure company safety standards are met.
• Write new policies and procedures to improve H&S and to train employees in those changes and update the company H&S manual as required.
• Manage company related insurance requirements for vehicles.
• Maintain and track company PPE.
• Track H&S training and ensure training cycles are maintained.
• Investigate and track and document any accidents or near misses and advise on policy changes to prevent future incidents.
• Conduct and manage the Joint Health and Safety Committee
• Handle all WSIB related inquiries and requirements
