Job description

Matchtech are supporting a key client in Toronto with the recruitment of a Construction Project Manager to work on high profile railway projects on a permanent basis.

Step into a key leadership role supporting the construction phase of a large, complex infrastructure programme. Reporting to a senior delivery lead, the Project Manager for Site Services & Material Testing operates at the intersection of engineering and construction—coordinating multidisciplinary teams and ensuring the right expertise is available at the right time. This role directly supports successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the coordination and oversight of Site Services, Material Testing, and Engineering Services During Construction (ESDC) across a major infrastructure programme.
  • Collaborate closely with site engineers, discipline leads, contractors, project controls, and client representatives to align resources with construction schedules and enable timely delivery of site services, including environmental, geotechnical, monitoring, and specialist disciplines.
  • Monitor and drive performance across ESDC deliverables, such as requests for information (RFIs), submittals, field design changes, inspections, and as‑built documentation.
  • Identify resourcing risks early and work with leadership to mitigate or elevate issues that could impact cost, schedule, or quality.
  • Support budget development, cost tracking, performance monitoring, and change management to ensure delivery remains aligned with approved scopes and forecasts.
  • Support quality and engineering leadership in auditing engineering deliverables for conformance with procedures and management plans, identifying process inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
  • Assist in resolving high‑priority technical issues as needed to maintain construction progress.
  • Act as an escalation point for delivery, resourcing, and performance challenges during construction.
Skills and Experience
  • Experience supporting complex, multidisciplinary infrastructure or large‑scale construction programmes.
  • Strong understanding of construction and engineering delivery processes, including ESDC workflows and environmental oversight.
  • Proven ability to work at the interface of technical teams, contractors, project controls, and client stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in resource planning, budget monitoring, performance tracking, and change management.
  • Experience reviewing and approving scopes, hours, invoices, and project‑related expenditures.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in fast‑paced, collaborative environments with multiple delivery partners.
  • Strong problem‑solving mindset with effective communication and coordination skills.
