Job description

Duties

  1. Be accountable for successful delivery of multiple projects.
  2. Develop diverse, high performing teams through coaching, training, and development, creating opportunities for new and challenging experiences.
  3. Provide oversight, leadership, and accountability for the development and maintenance of project schedules and execution plans.
  4. Oversee the preconstruction phase, team selection, and ensure the teams execute on the construction turnover and post turnover service stages on a portfolio of projects.
  5. Coach, mentor, and develop a diverse team while ensuring the company creates growth opportunities to achieve both individual and corporate goals and objectives. Promote and instill the company’s core values.
  6. Develop strategies and action plans to overcome project execution challenges. Acquire, build, and maintain a strong dedicated workforce.
  7. Develop and/or advance the latest industry technologies, systems, processes, and innovations to ensure the company maintains its position as an industry leader in construction.
  8. Support business development activities by creating and maintaining long-lasting relationships with clients, the design community, engineers, suppliers, sub-contractors, and other organizations which enhance future business development opportunities.
  9. The success of the Construction Manager will be measured by client satisfaction, project management, financial performance, safety performance, quality, employee engagement, and development.
  10. Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  11. Perform any other duties that may be superficially or generally assigned.

Skills

  1. Demonstrated experience in the construction industry.
  2. A post-secondary degree or diploma in construction or engineering.
  3. Minimum of 15 years in construction with at least 8 years managing progressively larger and more complex projects and teams.
  4. Proven leadership skills, with a strong focus on mentoring and motivating.
  5. Demonstrated ability to manage key relationships, including clients, business partners, government agencies, and sub-trades.
  6. Computer literate, with working knowledge of Microsoft software (Excel, Word, etc.) and emails.
  7. Adaptable and flexible.
  8. Ability to lead and manage a large group, attract, hire, and develop workers. Able to identify key issues; creatively and strategically overcome internal and external challenges or obstacles.
  9. A clear and solid understanding of the issues faced by the organization, including but not limited to market conditions, project challenges, financial, client, labour, and/or sub-trade issues.
