Job Title: Construction Officer : Civil

Overview:

The Construction Officer acts as a construction site coordinator and inspector on multiple or large civil, electrical, and/or mechanical projects to ensure the work, materials, progress, and cost meet the company expectations.

What you will be doing:
  • Inspect construction work on substations, transmission lines, and hydroelectric equipment, utilizing excellent inspection skills and understanding of construction methods to meet deadlines and comply with building and safety codes.
  • Ensure site safety by prioritizing safe work practices and performing Safe Work Observations, applying knowledge of safety standards and regulations to enhance safety performance.
  • Conduct or coordinate site testing, surveying, and estimating activities using good knowledge of engineering drawings to facilitate project progression, considering conditions such as adverse weather and working at heights or underground.
  • Support contract and work order administration by collaborating with contractors and internal construction services to ensure work, materials, progress, and costs meet expectations for successful project implementation.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, providing advice on complex technical issues to develop the company's future capabilities.
  • Respond to internal and third-party construction inquiries professionally, using excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to represent the company on-site.
What you must have:
  • Diploma in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Technology from an Institute of Technology, relevant trades, apprenticeship courses, or equivalent.
  • Training in contract law.
  • Excellent knowledge of safety standards and regulations such as Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards and WorkSafe Regulations.
  • Advanced English skills for professional environments, both written and spoken.

Salary/Rate Range: $57.00 - $70.00 per hour

Term: 12-month contract; most likely to extend
