What You'll Be Doing:

As an MEP Layout Coordinator at Mattina Mechanical Ltd., you’ll be responsible for performing precise on-site layout and surveying, interpreting construction drawings, and creating detailed 3D CAD models for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. You’ll work closely with project teams to resolve coordination issues, support field operations, and ensure accurate installation through effective planning, documentation, and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities:

• Provide construction surveying services, including establishing horizontal and vertical control points
• Perform layout work and verify as-built site conditions
• Stake out lines, levels, and points for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) installations
• Interpret and review architectural, structural, civil, electrical, and mechanical drawings
• Manage layout and survey tasks, including planning, calculations, reporting, and documentation
• Create and maintain survey control plans, CAD files, and detailed layout drawings
• Develop fully dimensioned 3D CAD models, including: field-routed piping assemblies, mechanical packages (e.g., heat exchangers, boiler skids, valve skids), HVAC ductwork layouts and structural penetrations (roof curbs, pitch pockets, wall openings)
• Identify and resolve trade coordination or interference issues
• Support field managers and project managers with site-based challenges
• Participate in project meetings and report on layout progress
• Maintain, protect, and regularly calibrate survey equipment
• Ensure work complies with ISO quality standards and company procedures
• Assist the Technical Services Manager with vendor coordination and design-assist efforts
• Share lessons learned to improve workflow and site productivity
• Perform additional duties as needed to support project success

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent
• A minimum of 1 to 3 years of working experience as an MEP layout coordinator
• Highly proficient in cadastral and engineering surveying methodologies (TOPCOM)
• Experience in monitoring survey work and topographical surveys
• Good knowledge of building mechanical systems for commercial, institutional, and industrial projects.
• Able to manage multiple priorities and to provide forecasts and schedules for their work
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong working knowledge of CAD software and other relevant surveying software and understands the limitations and use of standard surveying equipment
• Excellent Computer skills (Microsoft office)
• Ontario Land Surveyor License is an asset
• Driver’s License in good standing
