Job summary

Frontier-Kemper is seeking a Construction Manager to lead our project in Squamish, BC. You will supervise field activities in underground heavy civil construction, coordinate with owners, engineers, and contractors, and drive safety and quality on site.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in tunnel or heavy civil projects, TBM operations (EPB/Mixshield), and PM/CM experience, with hands-on equipment familiarity and underground environment readiness. OSHA 30 or MSHA preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• 10+ years TBM EPB & Mixshield operations.
• Hands-on experience with Herrenknecht equipment.
• 5+ years PM/CM in heavy civil or mining.
• OSHA 30, MSHA Instructor and Underground Mine Examiner preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with assigned project under direction of the Project Manager/Project Executive.
• Assist with project budgets and minimize exposure and risk on projects.
• Ensure procurement and proposal development activities move according to schedule.
• Communicate effectively with the sub-contractors and vendors responsible for completing various phases of work.
• Coordinate the efforts of all parties involved in projects, including the owner, architect, consultants, contractors, and sub-contractors.
• Monitor/report the progress of the construction activities on a regular basis and hold regular status meetings with clients and/or consultant team.
• Maintain strict adherence to quality and safety standards.
• Integrate new technology and mining methods at existing projects to improve production.
• Assist with preparation of post-bid work plans, procurement, scheduling, and cost control.
• Actively participate in production tracking and post-job analysis.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar
• 10+ years of experience with Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) operations, specifically EPB & Mixshield TBMs.
• Hands-on experience with Herrenknecht equipment
• 5 or more years’ experience as a Project Manager or Construction Manager in heavy civil, mining, or a related area
• Previous experience with project management, field engineering, estimating, and/or project scheduling
• Ability and willingness to work on construction sites (mines and tunnels) within an underground environment
• OSHA 30, MSHA Instructor and Underground Mine Examiner Certifications are all preferred
