As a Construction Manager working in the Civil & Infrastructure team at Pomerleau Construction, you will manage large-scale building and infrastructure projects, ranging from $1.5 million to upwards of $1 billion. For this specific posting, you will have the opportunity to manage complex construction projects while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.

What You Will Do
  • Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety, and Environmental Protection on the project.
  • Effectively apply the requirements of the project-specific safety standards to promote Pomerleau’s HS&E standards, applicable OH&S acts, regulations, and codes with all employees and trade partners on the project.
  • Use your proactive approach to ensure project materials are supplied and in compliance with our first-class Quality Program.
  • Establish and identify all project on-site manpower requirements.
  • Take a hands-on approach to leading and mentoring our construction team; conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and quality of work, addressing discrepancies promptly.
  • Collaborate with our client, trade partners, and consultants.
  • Develop and drive construction schedules in conjunction with the project team and trade partners, ensuring milestones are met.
  • Apply problem-solving skills and recommend innovative methods to increase effectiveness and efficiency, ensuring project excellence and productivity targets are achieved.
  • Participate from the beginning by collaborating with the Project Manager on all construction site start-up details, including schedule, resources, and execution methodologies.
  • Manage construction site inventory and work with the Logistics team to ensure accuracy.
  • Represent the company during coordination meetings with clients and related parties.
  • Ensure workforce training is up-to-date and monitor workforce development.
This role could be for you if you have
  • 20 years of experience in the construction industry, specializing in large civil and infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in marine construction, including piling work and cast-in-place concrete.
  • Ability to obtain a Government of Canada Secret level clearance as per project contractual requirements.
  • A construction-related certificate, diploma, or degree.
  • A proven track record of project success and team collaboration.
  • Strong knowledge of civil construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, quality, and cost control.
  • The ability to quickly identify problematic situations, determine causes, produce effective solutions, and lead a large construction team to successful completion.
  • A passion for developing, maintaining, and executing the project schedule.
  • Good computer skills and experience with scheduling and construction management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Procore).
  • Knowledge of the British Columbia market; experience and existing relationships with major local subcontractors and suppliers would be an asset.

The expected salary range for this opportunity is $150,000 - $180,000. Salaries may vary based on experience and location. Compensation includes salary, potential bonuses, and extensive employee benefits, which vary by role.
