The construction oversight inspector will be part of the Scarborough subways extension team who work closely with the constructor to deliver the Scarborough Subways Extension project. The construction oversight inspector will utilise their previous experience to drive a culture of best practice for health, safety, wellbeing, and quality across the project.

You’ll Be Responsible For:

  • Acting as a safety leader across areas of the project and ensure all works undertaken on site, are done so in a safe manner.
  • Proactively engaging with the delivery teams, contractor and subcontractors.
  • Driving construction delivery.
  • Walking the sites and undertaking construction inspections.
  • Reviewing work plans, risk assessments and permits to an approved standard prior to work activities commencing.
  • Interacting with stakeholders to ensure that objectives are being met.
  • Carrying out weekly health and safety tours.
  • Leading on construction quality.
  • Ensuring each handover date, or area completion is achieved snag-free.
  • Providing comprehensive technical expertise and understanding of Metrolinx onsite standards for each part of the Project, where to find them, and responsible for implementation.

You’ll Need To Have:

  • Have 5-10 years of significant experience in construction management and oversight.
  • Ideally have experience of major infrastructure and / or transit projects.
  • Experienced construction manager in the rail / transit sector.
  • Solid understanding of construction methodology, innovative methods of delivery, technology, planning, delivery, site logistics.
  • Commercial and basic understanding of construction contract law and an understanding of multiple contract types.
  • Good oral, written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Up to date with key industry/professional trends.
  • Proficient in office technology, software, and applications.
  • Well-developed decision-making skills.
  • The individual will take ownership to identify, solve and overcome challenges, whilst keeping other abreast of developments.
  • This individual is expected to deliver results, striving to exceeds the clients’ expectations.
