Construction Manager – Architectural Millwork & Finish Carpentry
As a Construction Manager, you will oversee the on-site execution of multiple architectural millwork and finish carpentry projects from pre-construction through final delivery. You will be responsible for ensuring construction activities are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Your ability to coordinate teams, manage subcontractors, and maintain strong client relationships will be critical to the success of each project.
What you will be doing:
- Direct daily site operations across multiple commercial and residential projects involving architectural millwork and finish carpentry.
- Coordinate construction schedules, subcontractors, and material deliveries to maintain progress according to project timelines.
- Supervise site labor, subcontractor performance, and workmanship quality to ensure alignment with AWMAC standards and project specifications.
- Monitor job site safety protocols, enforce compliance with regulations, and promote a culture of safety.
Project Coordination
- Work closely with Project Managers, Estimators, and Design teams to interpret construction documents and clarify scope or technical issues.
- Participate in pre-construction planning, site assessments, and mobilization to ensure project readiness.
- Facilitate timely issue resolution and change management during active construction.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on progress, risks, and critical path activities to both clients and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure that client expectations are managed and met throughout construction.
Vendor & Subcontractor Management
- Supervise and evaluate subcontractor performance, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and quality.
- Assist in negotiating terms and resolving disputes to maintain productive working relationships.
- Coordinate procurement schedules with suppliers to avoid material delays and disruptions.
Budget, Cost & Quality Control
- Assist with tracking costs, labor hours, and resource usage on-site to support financial reporting and budget adherence.
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or schedule.
- Ensure all work complies with contractual obligations, quality standards, and inspection requirements.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor site crews, promoting teamwork, accountability, and productivity.
- Support hiring and onboarding of trades and field staff as needed.
- Conduct site meetings, toolbox talks, and regular performance assessments.
What You Bring:
Industry Experience
- Proven experience in managing construction sites (with a focus on architectural millwork and finish carpentry preferred) in both commercial and high-end residential sectors.
- Deep understanding of construction best practices, technical drawings, and site coordination.
Skills & Tools
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, shop drawings, and millwork installation plans.
- Familiarity with construction management software (Procore preferred) and Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong command of scheduling, safety protocols, and field documentation processes.
Leadership & Communication
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills to manage site operations and build positive team dynamics.
- Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written, with clients, trades, and internal project teams.
Credentials
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of workplace safety standards and ability to enforce site-specific safety plans.
- Ability to manage multiple active job sites and meet tight construction schedules.
