The primary role of the Construction Manager is to work with in-house and field personnel to provide overall project performance including schedule, costs, quality, stakeholder satisfaction, and the integrity of the design are maintained. The position works closely with the Design and Development services teams and maintains excellent relationships with subcontractors and clients.


Construction Manager Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Achieve the project budget and meet or exceed target net margin.
  2. Meet or beat the project milestones and schedule.
  3. Prepare detailed construction schedules, track on a weekly basis, and present a Monthly Report.
  4. Deliver scope while meeting or exceeding Design’s and Client’s quality, fit, and finish expectations.
  5. Coach, motivate, and facilitate with project team superintendents, estimating, and subcontractors/suppliers to achieve project budget, scope, and schedule.
  6. Observe that Work Safe Practices are being followed and report any infractions to ensure safety of employees, sub-trades, and community.
  7. Lead the bid process and be accountable for the bid.
  8. Implement and monitor Omicron’s Construction Management Process, in accordance with Omicron’s CM Manual and Governance Policy.
  9. Ensure all contractual issues and deficiencies are resolved within 30 days from tenant/client occupancy.
  10. Prepare monthly billings and progress claims.
  11. Analyze, interpret and execute action on Management Control Reports and cost forecasts.
  12. Ensure client satisfaction.
  13. Identify suitable service offerings and recommendations for clients – know client business issues.
  14. Provide client reporting in alignment with Omicron’s and the client’s requirements.

Construction Manager Qualifications:
  1. 5 to 10 years’ experience with a design-builder, general contractor, sub-contractor, and/or owner’s representative.
  2. Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or Architecture.
  3. Working toward or has a designation in Engineering, Project Management, or Architecture.
  4. Gold Seal Intern or Gold Seal Certified.
  5. PQS designation, a trade certification, or a business degree considered an asset.
  6. Experience in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  7. Worked on site as a Project Coordinator or Site Superintendent for the term of one project.
  8. Excellent capability within Outlook, MS Word, and Excel.
  9. Competent in Estimating and Take-off, MS Project to track, plan, and coordinate the project.
  10. Knowledge of Provincial Building Codes, Building envelope, Health and Safety Regulations, and Contract Law.
  11. Proficient in Timberline Project Management, Contract Control, and Change Management.
  12. Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  13. Effective client management (e.g. explain reasoning for contract changes).
  14. Able to build and maintain professional relationships internally and externally.
  15. Maintain a positive image of the project and the site to the general public.
  16. Professional and timely communication to internal team members and external stakeholders.
  17. Driven, future-focused, with a sense of urgency.
  18. Comfortable providing and receiving feedback.
  19. Deliver on promises made internally and externally.
  20. Collaborative approach to leading project teams.
  21. Capable of managing a variety of projects simultaneously.
  22. Knowledgeable about design and construction processes.
  23. Able to lead, coach, and motivate project team members; delegates effectively.
  24. Focused on solutions.
  25. Understanding of project financial management.
  26. Frequent local travel to job sites and travel to out-of-town sites required as necessary.

Construction Manager Remuneration:
  1. Base pay $100,000 - $140,000.
  2. 3 weeks of vacation.
