Construction Manager

Join a team of forward thinking, enthusiastic, results-driven and collaborative professionals. To support our mission we are currently seeking an experienced Construction Manager to join our team.

Position Summary

To have overall responsibility for the management and coordination of all activities required in the construction scope to ensure the safety, cost, supervision, project schedule, quality, client liaison and reporting satisfies the requirements for handover to the Commissioning Phase.

What does this role involve?

1. Manage the project establishment, site mobilisation and demobilisation activities
2. Hold contractors accountable to HSE, cost and schedule performance to ensure alignment with objectives established upon contract award
3. Control channels of communication and information flow internally and externally
4. Coordinate and communicate the construction performance requirements to ensure project objectives are realised
5. Participate in internal and client construction meetings
6. Identify site resources required for the effective completion of the construction phase
7. Manage and lead the construction team effectively, all disciplines of work
8. Coordinate and carry out incident investigations as required
9. Manage and attend toolbox talks, risk assessments and daily toolbox meetings
10. Manage and coordinate the sub-contractors' program, progress and productivity to ensure planned completion date is met
11. Manage, review, and improve productivity of workforce, create safe and efficient behaviours and a high-performance culture
12. Identify and manage the head and sub-contracts for compliance and ensure the Project Manager is kept informed of any issues
13. Identify and manage change to the Head Contract and sub-contracts from a construction perspective
14. Carry out inspection of construction works to achieve the quality identified in project criteria, standards and specifications
15. Manage the receipt and acceptance of all deliveries and manage the laydown areas to handover to subcontractors as required
16. Manage and sign-off on test sheets and construction ITP’s where applicable
17. Coordinate resolution of technical issues and Requests for Information that arise during construction
18. Manage and coordinate all accommodation, travel and messing issues for construction staff
19. Produce reports for distribution internally and to the client for construction progress and close out
20. Coordinate the gathering of information and drawing mark-ups for the timely issue of “as-built” information
21. Manage the development and clearance of punch lists including repairs and modifications
22. Participate in the formal handover for Commissioning
23. Coordinate activities with the Commissioning Manager as required.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will be self-motivated, well organised with the ability to manage multiple work fronts in a busy environment. You will be able to think out-of-the-box and be the driver to find innovative solutions.

Qualifications:

• Recognised tertiary or technical trade

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Minimum 20 years site construction management experience in a project environment with familiarity in project management practices
• Extensive experience overseeing installation of critical mineral processing equipment, such as crushers, ball mills and SAG mills
• The ability to work on site is a pre-requisite for this position

Salary range in BC: 200,000 - 250,000

The salary offered to the successful person for this position will consider education, experience, relevant skills and capability, geographic location and market conditions at the time of hire.
