Overview:

Sierra Construction Group is seeking a Construction Manager for our Bridge Division. The role involves leading and coordinating all phases of multiple large construction projects from pre-construction to closeout, working closely with project teams including coordinators, managers, and superintendents.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate proven leadership, client relationship management skills, and uphold the highest ethical standards. Responsibilities include ensuring project quality, schedule adherence, cost control, safety, and compliance with specifications and contractual obligations.

This position requires a team-oriented individual who promotes a positive, professional environment through effective communication and possesses strong management, delegation, planning, and leadership skills.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure the successful delivery of multiple projects
  2. Develop high-performing teams through coaching, training, and creating growth opportunities
  3. Oversee project schedules and execution plans
  4. Manage preconstruction, team selection, and project turnover stages
  5. Mentor and develop team members, fostering growth and achievement of goals
  6. Instill the company’s core values
  7. Develop strategies to address project challenges
  8. Build and maintain a dedicated workforce
  9. Advance industry technologies and processes to maintain industry leadership
  10. Support business development through strong relationships with clients and partners
  11. Measure success via client satisfaction, project management, financial and safety performance, quality, and employee engagement

Knowledge:

  • Deep understanding of construction techniques, safety policies, and engineering requirements
  • Knowledge of construction engineering and design aspects
  • Familiarity with Ontario Health and Safety Act, federal and provincial regulations, and contract types
  • Understanding of the impact of changes on project cost and schedule
  • Knowledge of union contracts and company policies and quality systems

Required Knowledge & Experience:

  • Significant construction industry experience
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in construction or engineering
  • At least 15 years in construction, with 8+ years managing large and complex projects
  • Proven leadership with mentoring and motivation skills
  • Ability to manage key relationships with clients, partners, and authorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and email communication
  • Experience leading large teams and attracting talent
  • Strategic thinker capable of overcoming challenges creatively
  • Understanding of market conditions, project challenges, and risk management
  • Knowledge of HR policies and procedures
  • Attention to detail, integrity, confidentiality, and accountability
  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
