The Department of Public Works supports Nova Scotia's 23,000 kilometers of roads and highways and 4,100 bridges. We are looking to expand our leadership team, and have an exciting opportunity available for a Construction Manager in the Northen District. This is your opportunity to make high impact decisions regarding the safe, timely and cost-effective delivery of individual projects and overall highway infrastructure in the Province.
You will provide a high standard of engineering expertise and innovative best practices when providing guidance and construction advice for field staff. You will recommend rehabilitation methods, provide cost estimates, and ensure all field generated plans produced are in accordance with Department and Industry standards, as well as Federal and Provincial Acts and Regulations.
As the Construction Manager, you will execute capital highway and bridge construction and rehabilitation, as well as lead all construction work carried out by private contractors and government staff associated with those projects throughout the Northen District. We have many exciting projects and developments on the horizon and we require your expertise in ensuring all projects are completed safely and within policies, specifications, regulations, and budgets. You are ultimately responsible for all Department employees, contractor personnel, and the safe passage of the motoring public through the various construction sites. You will work closely with staff at all levels and in various divisions of the Department, providing advice and input into Department-wide issues.
