Summary: The Construction Manager position leads and manages the execution of all assigned projects actively in the field.
Job Duties
- Ensure all projects are executed with Safety and Environmental Compliance as the primary focus of all personnel supporting his/her projects.
- Maintain awareness of the status of activities within scheduled work windows and resolve conflicts as they arise. The individual must maintain a physical presence on the job site(s) for at least 80% of the project duration.
- Perform site construction oversight inspections to monitor the quality of work and materials provided by vendors and subcontractors.
- Inspect work quality and adherence to contract specifications to meet regulatory requirements, codes, and company standards using visual observation, construction knowledge, and skills.
- Ensure the Owner receives the products and services specified in the PO, and that these will perform as required.
- Understand the Scope of Work (SOW) and ensure the Supplier executes the work according to the SOW and all applicable Owner Specifications and Standards. Report any deviations from contract specifications or materials.
- Provide quality inspection reports and status updates to management as needed.
- Provide feedback to contractors, engineers, safety personnel, and management regarding issues encountered.
- Know and understand Owner’s Supplemental Terms & Conditions, including safety and environmental standards, to be executed successfully by the Supplier.
Job Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in construction, engineering, or management, with at least 3 years in construction management.
- Experience with major power plants and equipment including turbines, generators, pumps, motors, control systems, electrical/instrumentation, and balance-of-plant systems.
- Knowledge of power generation and pollution control equipment.
- Understanding of construction and operational field work practices, equipment use, and scheduling.
- Skill in planning, organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling to meet deadlines.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective communication and decision-making skills.
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret manuals, technical instructions, and drawings, and prepare brief reports.
- Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with OSHA scaffolding requirements and safety practices.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Highly motivated, able to work with minimal supervision, and effective communicator.
- Physical ability to work in the field, including confined spaces, climbing stairs and ladders, and wearing respirators.
