Job summary

Stonerise Construction is seeking a Construction Manager to lead a 15+ year high-rise residential development pipeline in the Waterloo region. The role reports to the Senior Vice President of Auburn Group and focuses on delivering large-scale projects from pre-construction to occupancy, with strict accountability for budget, schedule, safety, and quality.

Ideal candidates will have 8–15 years of construction experience, current senior PM/CM roles, and a proven track record on multiple high-rise

Qualifications

  • 8 to 15 years of construction experience or equivalent
  • Current role as High-Rise Construction Manager or Senior Project Manager
  • Lead on at least two full high-rise projects with hands-on involvement
  • Experience with owner builder / developer is a strong asset
  • Strong knowledge of site safety, scheduling, and quality assurance

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership of construction team, driving accountability and high performance
  • Lead delivery of high-rise projects from pre-construction through occupancy and close-out
  • Drive construction planning to support development pipeline
  • Establish and improve construction standards, processes, and best practices

We are currently looking to fill the position of Construction Manager to work with the Stonerise Construction group with an office located in Waterloo, ON, and projects located in both Kitchener-Waterloo and London, ON.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Auburn Group, the Construction Manager will be accountable for leading a 15+ year pipeline of high-rise residential development projects and helping develop the next generation of construction leaders.

As the Construction Manager you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the construction team, driving accountability and high performance across Project Management and Field Operations.
  • Lead the successful delivery of high-rise residential projects from pre-construction through occupancy and close-out, with accountability for budget, schedule, safety, quality and risk.
  • Drive near- and long-term construction planning in support of the company’s development pipeline.
  • Establish and continuously improve construction standards, processes and best practices across office and field operations.
  • Build a strong bench of sustainable construction talent through coaching, mentorship, succession planning and ongoing development.
  • Oversee key construction functions including staffing, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, contracts, cost control, and project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, environmental and safety requirements.
  • Maintain key external vendor, consultant, municipal and provincial relationships.
  • Establish and monitor performance benchmarks to continually improve budget, schedule, quality and risk outcomes.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Construction-related degree or diploma and 8 to 15 years of construction experience or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience working on large projects.
  • Currently working as a High-Rise Construction Manager or Senior Project Manager.
  • At least two full high-rise projects completed as the Project Manager with hands-on involvement in all key phases: planning, budgets, schedules, design completion, monthly payments, phased occupancy, and project close out.
  • Prior experience with an owner builder / developer is a strong asset.
  • Deep understanding of site safety, scheduling, and quality assurance
  • Excellent communication and attention to detail.
  • Proven track record for successful/effective leadership and management of others.
  • Proven strategic agility and stretch; can easily assume wider and more complex tasks and initiatives.
  • Must be able to build strong relationships at all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders.
  • Outstanding planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently, and develop realistic action plans.
  • Skilled problem solver with the capabilities of anticipating and managing delays and disruptions
