Job Title: Construction Labourer

Reporting to the Supervisor Construction, the Labourer will be responsible for executing a variety of general labour tasks related to construction and quarrying work within a mining environment.

This position requires working in various conditions and locations while handling small tools and equipment.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Mining & Site Operations:

• Perform mining-related duties, including moving supplies, fueling equipment, relocating pumps and light plants, and setting up dewatering systems.
• Assist with wastewater and potable water pumping operations.
• Support general site maintenance and housekeeping tasks.

Construction & Equipment Operation:

• Operate plate compactors, shovel, rake, install geosynthetics, and install culverts/pipes as required.
• Clean and maintain tracks and other construction equipment.
• Assist with fuel and lubrication tasks for large equipment.

Safety & Compliance:

• Work safely in all weather conditions, including rain, snow, fog, and sun.
• Uphold and embody Skeena Resource’s safety standards and regulations.
• Attend and participate in pre-shift safety meetings.
• Complete shift paperwork as required, including FLHAs, JHAs, equipment inspection sheets, and load sheets.
• Perform pre-operational checks on equipment, clean, grease, and refill fluids as required.
• Participate in site-specific training as needed.

The Ideal Candidate

Education / Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License.

Experience / Skills

• 1- 5 plus years of labouring experience.
• Some knowledge of pumps and light plants.
• Ability to take direction from supervision and perform tasks safely with supervision.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures.
• Physical ability to lift heavy materials, work in all weather conditions, and stand for extended periods.
• Adaptable to change, ability to operate in less than perfect conditions and with less than perfect information at times.
• Detail oriented with excessive attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Exhibits a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters.
• Effective team player who can jump in wherever is needed.
• Strong interpersonal and reasoning skills, with proven problem-solving abilities.
• Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as with others.

Work Location & Conditions

This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on rotation.

The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena’s Travel Policy.

There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
