The Opportunity:

WSP has upcoming municipal infrastructure upgrade projects that are anticipated to enter construction in 2025 in various areas of Newfoundland & Labrador. Projects are in the municipalities of Bay Roberts, Carbonear, and Chapels Cove. Each project requires experienced municipal construction inspectors to oversee construction activities at these locations. The projected construction duration for each project is as follows:

  1. Bay Roberts (2 positions) – June to October
  2. Carbonear (2 positions) – May to November

A day in the life:
  • You'll be conducting site inspections for municipal construction projects, including storm and sanitary sewers, water distribution, and roadways, identifying and advising of non-compliance.
  • You’ll be reviewing and interpreting contract documents and contract drawings.
  • You’ll coordinate and monitor the material testing/quality control program completed by others.
  • You’ll keep field diaries, records of work completed, materials, and equipment on site each day.
  • You’ll monitor environmental compliance.
  • You’ll work closely with the Contract Administrator to provide observations, records, and data as required for contract administration.
  • You’ll be tracking and summarizing quantities, and reviewing, preparing, and recommending approval of payment certificates.
  • You’ll liaise with the design engineer and clients for approval of on-site changes.
  • You’ll liaise with the municipality and other stakeholders.
  • You’ll ensure compliance with WSP’s project-specific Health and Safety Plan.

What you’ll bring to WSP:
  • You have 2 to 3 years of experience as a Construction Inspector on municipal infrastructure projects.
  • You have good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You’ve preferably got good knowledge of the Department of Transportation & Infrastructure Municipal Water, Sewer and Roads Master Construction Specifications.
  • You’ve got a valid driver's license and a clean Driver’s Abstract.
