Job description

STV is seeking a Construction Inspector - Electrical AOA for our PM/CM group in NYC.

The Inspector will be responsible to oversee airfield electrical construction, including airfield lighting, taxiway, and runway lighting systems. The inspectors will be responsible for ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, project specifications, and safety standards while monitoring contractor work quality and adherence to schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct on-site inspections of airfield lighting, taxiway, and runway lighting installations.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA, NEC, and local electrical codes and regulations.
  • Monitor contractor work for quality, accuracy, and adherence to approved construction plans.
  • Inspect electrical infrastructure, including lighting circuits, transformers, control panels, and backup power systems.
  • Review and verify construction submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings.
  • Identify non-conforming work and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, airport operations, and contractors to resolve field issues.
  • Document progress through daily inspection reports, photographs, and punch lists.
  • Conduct testing and commissioning of installed lighting systems before acceptance.
  • Ensure airfield safety procedures are followed when working in active operational areas.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in electrical construction inspection, preferably in airfield or transportation infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of FAA airfield lighting systems, NEC codes, and electrical safety practices.
  • Experience with runway and taxiway lighting systems, including LED fixtures, PAPI, REIL, ILS, and signage.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, circuit diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and airfield work zone requirements.
  • Proficiency in inspection reporting software and Microsoft Office Suite is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on FAA-funded airport projects.
  • Knowledge of airfield lighting control and monitoring systems (ALCMS).
  • Previous work on large-scale aviation or transportation projects.

Additional Information:

  • Work will require field inspections in active airfield environments, following all airport safety protocols.

Compensation Range:

$63,305.00 - $84,407.00
