Job summary

Shaughnessy Contracting Inc. is seeking Construction Helpers to join our team across multiple BC Lower Mainland locations. Start date is as soon as possible, with full-time, permanent employment.

Responsibilities include assisting trades, handling materials, site prep, equipment setup, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment. We provide comprehensive training and relocation support for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; comprehensive training provided.
• Physically capable of lifting and carrying heavy objects.
• Willingness to learn new skills across multiple site tasks.
• Strong work ethic with a focus on workplace safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist skilled tradespersons by providing tools, equipment, and materials as needed.
• Load, unload, and transport construction materials to and from sites.
• Prepare sites by digging trenches, backfilling holes, and compacting earth for renovations.
• Set up and dismantle temporary structures (scaffolds, barricades, signage).
• Keep the work site clean by removing rubble and debris.
• Measure, cut, and assemble construction materials under supervision.
• Prepare surfaces for renovations by cleaning and prepping.
• Maintain open communication with team members to foster collaboration.
• Follow instructions to mix, pour, and spread materials accurately.
• Adhere to safety regulations at all times.
• Maintain and care for construction equipment and store safely after shifts.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss progress and plan tasks.
• Perform other duties as required.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary: $25.00 – $28.00 per hour
• Overtime and Vacation Pay

• Relocation assistance of up to $1500.00 will be provided to qualified candidates.
• Referral incentives of $1000.00 CAD will be paid to any current employee who refers to a candidate, and the company hires them.

Job Responsibilities
