Overview

We are currently seeking a Construction Health & Safety Officer (CSO) to join our team. In this role, you will assist the Health and Safety Manager in maintaining Norpac's Safety Program and work closely with management and project supervisors to ensure safety at all levels of our organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of safety regulations and practices, previous experience as a Construction Safety Officer, and excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of health and safety programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with local and provincial regulations.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings, site orientations, training and safety coordination for workers, subcontractors and visitors.
  • Conduct regular site safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain inventory and distribute PPE to workers; provide instruction on correct use and maintenance.
  • Provide training and resources to supervisors and employees to ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of safety statistics, training, inspections, and compliance audits.
  • Assist supervisors in conducting incident and near miss investigations and preparing investigation reports.
  • Assist in preparing project safety documentation, job hazard assessments, procedures and safe work plans.
  • Attend monthly JOHS Committee meetings.
  • Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.
  • Other Duties As Assigned / Required.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in a construction / occupational health and safety role.
  • Construction Safety Officer (CSO) designation; NCSO / CRSP considered an asset.
  • Advanced First Aid (OFA Level 3) considered an asset.
  • COR Internal Auditor certification considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and PDF programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience with ISNET and Avetta compliance platforms considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a challenging environment.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
  • A valid class 5 driver's license.
  • Ability to travel and work on rotation at remote sites is required.
