Job summary

Aplin is recruiting on behalf of a Vancouver-area client, a well-established General Contractor. They seek an Estimator to join their team to analyze project plans, perform quantity take-offs, and prepare detailed cost estimates for competitive bids.

You will collaborate with project managers and engineers to keep projects on time and within budget, maintain cost databases, review specifications, and coordinate with subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience of Estimating in the Construction industry particularly in ICI & Residential projects.
• Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office.
• Relevant 3rd level qualification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of bid proposals and ensure compliance with all specifications.
• Maintain and update a database of costs and pricing for future bidding processes.
• Review project plans and specifications to understand project requirements and scope.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and information as needed.
• Perform quantity take-offs and prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment.
• Analyze project costs and budget forecasts, providing value engineering options where applicable.
• Stay current with industry trends, materials, and techniques to enhance estimating processes.
• Attend project meetings and provide updates on estimating progress and timelines.

About The Opportunity

This role is crucial in ensuring accurate and competitive bids for various construction projects. Your role will invovlove analyzing project plans, perform quantity take-offs, and prepare detailed cost estimates, collaborating with project managers and engineers to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
