Lindsay Construction in Nova Scotia seeks an Estimator to prepare and coordinate full cost estimates for conceptual, design-build, or tender projects. The role involves mentoring junior estimators and supporting staff, ensuring accurate pricing and robust bid packages.

The ideal candidate has 3-5 years in construction estimating, strong MS Office skills, and a deep understanding of multiple contract forms. Travel to job sites may be required; a valid driver's license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of quantity surveying principles and practices.
• 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating.
• Excellent knowledge of the construction industry and market dynamics.
• Familiarity with contract types such as Lump Sum, Design Build, PM/CM, PPP.
• Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Interpret docs, specs, and drawings to define scope of estimates.
• Review and analyze bid packages from subcontractors.
• Assist with negotiations and clarifications with clients, consultants, vendors, and subs.
• Maintain large estimating files with up-to-date price data from vendors.
• Ensure ongoing development through training and professional growth.
• Prepare conceptual budgets from minimal information.
• Analyze alternatives to determine the most economical option.
• Assist in transferring information on successful projects.
