Job summary

Dock Products Canada is seeking a Construction Estimator in Mississauga, Ontario. The role supports Western Canada projects, preparing estimates for new construction and retrofit installations of loading dock equipment and related products.

Responsibilities include reviewing specs, developing bids, pricing from suppliers, and coordinating with Sales and Operations to ensure accurate, competitive quotations. Relevant post-secondary education is required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in construction, industrial equipment, building products, or estimating.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Estimating & Proposal Development.
• Review project specifications, drawings, bid documents, and customer requirements.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for loading dock equipment, dock levelers, seals and shelters, industrial doors, high-speed doors, vehicle restraints, safety barriers and accessories.
• Develop estimates for new construction and retrofit projects.
• Obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Analyze project risks and identify potential cost impacts.
• Prepare quotations and project proposals.
• Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Project Management, and Installation teams.
• Participate in handoff meetings after award.
• Support customers through quoting and bidding process.

We work with distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, warehouses, transportation companies, and commercial buildings to deliver safe, efficient, and reliable loading dock solutions.

We are seeking a highly motivated Construction Estimator to join our team in Mississauga, Ontario. This role will support customers and projects throughout Western Canada, preparing estimates for both new construction installations and retrofit projects for existing facilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in securing new business by providing accurate, competitive, and professional estimates while supporting our sales and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Estimating & Proposal Development
• Review project specifications, drawings, bid documents, and customer requirements.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for: Loading dock equipment, Dock levelers, Dock seals and shelters, Industrial doors, High-speed doors, Vehicle restraints, Safety barriers and accessories
• Develop estimates for both: New construction projects, Retrofit and modernization projects
• Obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Analyze project risks and identify potential cost impacts.
• Prepare professional quotations and project proposals.
• Project Support
• Work closely with Sales, Operations, Project Management, and Installation teams.
• Participate in project handoff meetings after award.
• Assist with scope reviews, change orders, and project revisions.
• Support customers through the quoting and bidding process.
• Customer & Contractor Relations
• Respond to customer inquiries regarding project requirements.
• Liaise with general contractors, architects, consultants, and end-users.
• Build strong relationships with customers and industry partners.
• Provide technical guidance related to dock and door solutions.
• Continuous Improvement
• Maintain accurate estimating records and bid history.
• Monitor industry trends and product developments.
• Identify opportunities to improve estimating processes and accuracy.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of construction, industrial equipment, building products, or estimating experience.
• Strong ability to read and interpret: Architectural drawings, Structural drawings, Mechanical and electrical specifications
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Experience with ERP, CRM, or estimating software.
• Understanding of project management principles.
• Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, Business, or a related field.
