Ocean Steel seeks an experienced Construction Environmental Lead to oversee environmental compliance for a major project north of Fredericton, NB. The role is site-based, guiding project teams and contractors to ensure adherence to EMPs and environmental regulations.

You will lead inspections, permit tracking, and reporting while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Strong collaboration across disciplines is essential for project success.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience supporting construction projects from an environmental compliance perspective.
• Strong understanding of provincial and federal environmental legislation and permitting frameworks.
• Experience developing, implementing, or auditing Environmental Management Plans and Environmental Protection Plans.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and ongoing management of the Project Environmental Management Plan (EMP).
• Ensure construction activities comply with environmental legislation, permit conditions, approvals, and commitments.
• Review, approve, and monitor Contractor-Specific Environmental Protection Plans (C-SEPPs).
• Conduct regular environmental inspections, audits, and compliance assessments across the project site.
• Provide environmental leadership and guidance to contractors and project teams.
• Promote proactive environmental risk management and continuous improvement initiatives.
