Job summary

Qualifications

• Underground distribution experience (3+ years) under the Red Seal or M-U certification.
• Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), Manitoba Electrical Code and Manitoba Hydro standards.
• Ability to perform physical work daily and adhere to safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Install/place electrical components, conduits, cable and wire for distribution and utilities.
• Construct and repair underground de-energized utilities.
• Make splices, terminations, and connections; install conduit.
• Record measurements, daily reports, material tracking and job docs.
• Mentor/train junior personnel and apprentices in safety and tool use.
• Ensure locates are confirmed through Click Before You Dig MB prior to ground disturbance.
• Identify and manage hazardous situations; follow Manitoba Hydro safety requirements and WHSA.
• Participate in tailgate meetings and field-level hazard assessments.

We're looking for a Red Seal Construction Electrician (M-U license an asset) to join our team and help build what comes next.

The Role

The Construction Electrician is a hands‑on role requiring strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC Part I), the Manitoba Electrical Code, and Manitoba Hydro underground distribution standards. The position also involves supporting general site activities and labour as needed to help keep work progressing safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

• Installation/placement of electrical components, conduits, cable and wire required for electrical distribution and utility systems.
• Construct and repair underground de‑energized utilities
• Make splices, terminations, and connections
• Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit
• Install grounding and bonding for underground electrical installations
• Record as‑built measurements and complete daily reports, material tracking and job documentation
• Instruct, mentor and train junior personnel and apprentices in duties, safe work practices, and the care and use of tools and equipment in a positive, respectful manner
• Confirm that valid locates are in place through Click Before You Dig MB before any ground disturbance
• Recognize, assess and deal with potentially hazardous situations in the work environment, at times around energized utilities
• Follow company safety programs, Manitoba Hydro safety requirements, and the Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulation
• Take part in daily tailgate meetings and field level hazard assessments

What you Bring

• Red Seal Construction Electrician certification with 3+ years of underground distribution experience OR A valid M-U License (Limited Utility)
• Working knowledge of the CEC, the Manitoba Electrical Code, and Manitoba Hydro standards
• A strong work ethic and readiness to do physical work every day, shovel included
• A valid Class 5 driver’s license and a clean driving record
