OverviewOur award-winning Facilities department provides a safe and productive working environment for employees in 14 offices around the province. We're looking for a construction coordinator to organize complex projects by developing, planning, designing, and coordinating all details of the project including operations and financial aspects, under the supervision of the construction project manager.
To be successful in this role, you must possess excellent communication skills as you may be dealing with injured workers who require a great sense of compassion and empathy. You must also hold an understanding of the construction industry, and knowledge of completing a project lifecycle.

Where you'll workIn this role, you'll work in our Richmond office five days a week, based on the operational needs of the position.
What you'll doAs a construction coordinator you will:- Act as the facilitator between internal and external stakeholders including professional consultants and contractors to organize and coordinate construction projects through end-to-end
- Keep abreast of project site's health and safety activities; identifying and addressing safety hazards; supervising contractor and internal team's work, ensuring safety procedures are followed, and regulatory compliance with Workers Compensation Act (WCA), the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation (OHSR) of BC and other applicable legislations
- Work alongside the construction project manager for the execution of safety documentation related to the Corporate Safety and Health programs; preparing pre-work forms, ensuring safety orientations are completed, and collecting and storing relevant exposure control plans (ECP), procedures, certifications, and other relevant safety documents
- Coordinate hazardous materials testing by identifying scope of work, preparing drawings, and scheduling consultants
- Coordinate and monitor the construction activities for home modifications of injured workers by liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure appropriateness, functionality, feasibility, and completion of services in a timely manner
- Facilitate with the project team to administer review and response to request for information (RFI), and shop drawing (SD) review and approval process; responsible for reviewing and recommending approval of site instructions (SI) and contemplated change notices (CCN)
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Is this a good fit for you?We're looking for someone who can:- Coordinate, prioritize, schedule, and manage multiple and concurrent projects independently and within a team
- Use sound communication skills (verbal and written) to deliver information to a diverse group of individuals including injured workers who may be hostile
- Maintain a thorough understanding of construction sequences and knowledge of applicable laws and building codes; maintain a broad knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, building materials and more related functions
- Promote and ensure a strong customer service environment
- Establish and maintain respectful and professional relationships with a variety of internal and external individuals
Your background and experience:- A diploma in building technology, construction management or a related field
- At least one year of post-secondary courses in CAD such as architectural and building technology, interior design, and/or facilities management
- A minimum of five years of directly related experience in the construction industry such as project management, CCDC contracts and construction administration, and/or project scheduling/estimating
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, and MS Project
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

Salary: $38.48 - $48.46/hourly
