REL offers a fast-paced, inclusive, and progressive workplace. We are seeking a Construction Controls Labourer in the Ottawa area. You will be a key member of the installation team, assisting with installations, terminations, commissioning, and troubleshooting of Building Automation Systems.

Location of Work

Ottawa, Ontario; ability to commute to client facilities within the National Capital and Eastern Ontario Area.

Type of Work

Our hours are from 7 : 30 am to 4 : 00 pm. Hours may vary based on client requests, facility operations, or other accommodations.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading construction materials.
• Cleaning worksites of hazardous or obsolete materials.
• Using power tools and machinery as needed.
• Following supervisor instructions.
• Assisting in installation and termination of control devices.
• Assisting with site commissioning, point-to-point verifications, troubleshooting, and startups of BAS, HVAC, and Lighting controls systems.
• Reporting equipment issues or unsafe conditions.
• Complying with Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and company safety regulations.
• Being on site at the start time and prepared to work.

Qualifications

• 0 to 2 years of construction experience.
• Knowledge of building automation systems is an asset.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Willingness to obtain WHMIS, Working at Heights, and Mobile Elevated Platform Certifications.
• Ability to pass security screening; reliability clearance is an asset.
• Fluent in English; French is an asset. Ability to read construction plans, specs, and documentation.
• Ability to stand for long periods, climb ladders, and work at heights with fall arrest protection.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to commute to job sites.
