Job summary

Sterling Homes Calgary is seeking a Construction Carpenter for residential construction tasks in Calgary and surrounding areas. You will perform general carpentry and related labour while adhering to the company’s safety program.

The role involves routine site duties, deficieny repairs, material handling, and maintaining site organization. The ideal candidate is organized, a strong communicator, and an active listener, with a valid driver’s license and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of building codes and varying techniques for different construction processes.
• Comfortable using carpentry related tools and equipment.
• Valid driver’s licence and access to reliable vehicle.
• Satisfactory verification of criminal record check.
• Physically able to kneel and crouch as well as lift, carry, push or pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Creating deficiency lists and completing basic repairs.
• Maintaining general cleanliness to ensure job site is clear of waste and scrap materials.
• Maintaining organization of storage facility.
• Loading and/or unloading construction materials and moving to work areas.
• Building and maintaining fences or barriers to keep general public safe from hazardous work areas.
• Assisting in completing basic carpentry related tasks or other construction labour duties as required.
• Comprehending and comply with Qualico’s safety Program. Reporting any incidents or near-miss incidents immediately to the Site Superintendent.
• Providing support to other projects or duties as assigned.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Field Operations Manager, as the Construction Carpenter you will perform general carpentry and other construction labour activities while ensuring adherence to Qualico’s Safety Program.

Your Day-to-day Responsibilities Will Include

• Creating deficiency lists and completing basic repairs.
• Maintaining general cleanliness to ensure job site is clear of waste and scrap materials.
• Maintaining organization of storage facility.
• Loading and/or unloading construction materials and moving to work areas.
• Building and maintaining fences or barriers to keep general public safe from hazardous work areas.

Work Conditions

You primarily work on site during regular business hours with travel within Calgary and surrounding communities. Work has exposure to noise from equipment/machinery and occupational hazards as well as dealing with inclement weather and dust. Overtime may occasionally be required.
