Position Overview

A Handyman/Carpenter at Lydale is responsible for helping those affected by fire or flood damage by rebuilding and restoring homes to their original condition. Our reconstruction team seeks individuals skilled in or interested in apprenticing or cross-training in drywall, painting, ceiling texture & installation, or carpentry. We hire employees new to the trades and provide training to develop versatile skills. As employees grow, we offer further training to enhance their expertise.

Carpentry Responsibilities
  • Install kitchens, bathrooms, exterior sub-floors, and framing
  • Perform rough/finished and trim carpentry
  • Install chair rail and wainscoting
  • Apply veneer panels and moldings including crown molding
  • Install vanities
  • Build stairs
  • Mortise door hinges
  • Drill for locksets
  • Install windows and exterior doors
  • Frame columns and beams
  • Frame with steel studs
  • Frame wood walls and bulkheads
Drywall Responsibilities
  • Assist with hanging, taping, sanding, mudding drywall, and painting
  • Perform minor repairs such as patching and texturing
  • Cut and install drywall
  • Install corner bead
  • Apply Denshield drywall
  • Texture blending
  • Tape, coat, skim, and sand for painting readiness
Painting Responsibilities
  • Caulk and fill base and trim
  • Brush and spray base and casing
  • Assist with spray painting
Health and Safety
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety practices and procedures
  • Maintain good housekeeping for safety and efficiency
  • Understand safety policies and protocols
  • Ensure proper use of PPE on site
Who We Are Looking For

A personable, organized individual with attention to detail and excellent data entry skills. Someone who maintains a professional manner and interacts well with employers and vendors daily. Experience in a fast-paced environment is preferred. Additional attributes include:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Handyman/Carpenter with drywall and painting skills
  • Physical ability to bend, reach, lift 50 pounds repeatedly, and stand throughout shifts
  • A driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle capable of transporting large materials
  • Willingness to work overtime and participate in on-call rotations
  • A positive attitude and commitment to customer service
  • Ability to wear PPE, including respirators
  • A clean criminal record and a driver’s abstract with minor infractions
